Homing a Greyhound

Our Mission

Greyhound owners say they are a bit of an addiction; either you will end up with more than one greyhound (one simply isnt enough) or you will find that you just wont ever want any breed other than a greyhound.

Caz and the team are dedicated to help you find the dog that is right for your home, family and circumstances. If you are thinking about homing an ex-racer please contact us to arrange a visit to the kennels, they will go out of their way to help you find the right dog. Below is some information on the homing process and what to expect from giving an ex-racing greyhound a home. Naturally, the process will throw up some questions. Caz and the team are always at the end of the phone to offer advice and guidance.
If you have any questions or queries or simply want to find out more please dont hesitate to contact the kennels directly on 07704982140.

Meeting your new best friend

Adoption process: Have a look at our available dogs so you have an idea of who you might like to view. Give the kennels a call on 07704982140 and they will get the ball rolling. They will go through a series of questions such as whether you live in a house or flat (we rehome to both), whether you have any young children/young family members who visit regularly, your working circumstances and what kind of dog you are looking for. Once these questions have been completed they will ask for you to send a video of your home over whatsapp so the team can view it. Common alterations which need to be made are glass stickers which are required on patio doors as our dogs aren't glass aware and rugs or runners may be required if you have large amounts of laminate flooring. The team will then be in contact to organise an appointment for you to come and view the dogs. On the day of the appointment they will then point you in the direction of some of the dogs that might be suitable for your family, you will also be able to say who which dogs interest you. You will then be able to take the selected hound out for a walk down the lane. Making that decision about a particular dog may take some time so you might need to walk more than one to find the right dog.

Home Check

Once you are comfortable that you have found the right dog we will then be able to reserve this dog. A home check by one of our volunteer home checkers will then be booked in. This will then be a face to face visit to your home to ensure everything is definitely in order ready for your new family member. They will check that if you have a garden that fences are the minimum 6ft height and are secure. Once a successful home check has been completed you will then be able to arrange to pick up your new family member from the kennels.
